While it may not be the greatest play to be a Pulitzer finalist, I think it's a lot better than you give it credit for. I saw a semi-staged production of it done by students and community members in Ithaca last Spring and the audience found its depiction of the complexities of being female today quite compelling--and casting it with a range of actresses from undergraduates to retirees gave it a kind of grit and reach that was fascinating.

I'm not sure that Fairview was that much better a play--and it won!
