I looked for articles on this a couple of days ago. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I found articles, including a Riedel one (for which Albee declined to comment), about unwanted laughter on Ruehl's entrance at the end. There was so much laughter at the first preview that Ruehl was very startled and upset. And then I remembered this being discussed here back then. There were no quotes from Albee in the articles I looked at, but it was said that they immediately started working to adjust it so that there would not be laughter, although it seems that at some performances, at least for a bit, there was laughter.
