I agree with some of your comments on this project, but I don't think this one applies. Aside from the addition of songs, the script of TOOTSIE has been almost completely written in terms of the dialogue and even the conception of most of the characters. Really, only the basics of the plot remain from the movie, and yet many people I know (myself included) find the book of the musical extremely funny, if flawed -- and indeed, the book writer won a Tony Award for his work. Of course, I have no idea how similar the script of MRS. DOUBTFIRE will be to the film script, but I doubt they will try to recreate the same comic bits that Robin Williams et al. did, as I think that would be a big mistake.
