I for one do think the government should take that. The reason estate taxes were created were to prevent an inherited oligarchy from forming. And today we need it more than ever.

Even with the taxes, the heirs are each inheriting more money than most people make in a lifetime. They will never need to work or be productive in any way, if they do not want to. They will be able to pass along a large amount to their heirs.

So they will be just fine.

The family is passing down wealth. (Not sure what "deserving" would mean in this context.) No one is being punished for good fortune. Everyone wins.
