As you did, I saw it in Boston, and then I saw it again last night (Thanksgiving). I agree with your assessment 100%. I find it a powerful and moving show. I share your minor quibbles, but agree that they are minor. I cried multiple times during the show in Boston, and I was again moved to tears last night. And I am 100% with you on Lauren Patten! A star is born, indeed! I was blown away by her in Boston, and I was blown away by her again last night. I found her Jo to be a beautifully relatable and lovable character, and her show stopping moment is very well earned. She won me over from her first appearance in act 1....

(Possible spoilers below)

She drew me in further with her absolutely charming and wonderful Hand in Pocket, and then, because of how much she made me care about Jo, I was right there with her as she expressed her feelings of betrayal and rage in You Oughta Know. Her selflessly standing by Frankie despite having been so hurt by her just made me care about her even more. As far as I'm concerned, Lauren Patten's performance is amazing!
