"The movie has plenty of ignorant racial stereotypes that are symptoms of racism."

Stereotypes are based in truth, which is how they come into existence in the first place. For that reason, it's arguable that a movie or play or whatever that's full of stereotypes of certain groups of people is not necessarily offensive towards those people.

For example: I am aware that there was some degree of protest against THE GODFATHER movie before and after its original release, and, later, I believe also against THE SOPRANOS, but both of those entertainments wound up becoming extremely popular to the point where any protests seemed insignificant -- and, more to the point, neither of them was ever withdrawn from public view, as SONG OF THE SOUTH has been.
