IIRC, you are also a Northwestern alum? From the days of the School of Speech (as opposed to the School of Communication), perhaps? If so, I think you may find "The Inheritance" very reminiscent of the best uses of chamber theatre-style narrative. I know you've read the text, but the use of 3rd person narration, including free indirect speech, took me back to some of my fondest memories of the works of Robert Breen--I was Assistant Director on his last production, his 3-hour adaptation of Maugham's "Of Human Bondage"--this production had some of the flavor of that aesthetic, though Lopez' re-visioning of the Forster is its own creation. I loved it, even during its longeurs.
