I think she considers her time at Stratford, Ontario near the top: in the course of four seasons between 1976 and 1980 she played Rosalind, Cleopatra, Beatrice, Titania, Lady M., Masha in THREE SISTERS. Millamant in THE WAY OF THE WORLD, The Actress in THE GUARDSMAN, Amanda Prynne, Judith Bliss, Virginia Woolf in VIRGINIA. I think she may have played Mistress Overdone in MEASURE, too?

Can you imagine?

Many were opposite Brian Bedford, with whom she formed an unofficial partnership.

I wish I'd seen them!

Of the five or so I've seen her performance in THREE TALL WOMEN as A is the best female performance I have ever seen onstage. I also treasure the memory of her Miss Shepherd in THE LADY IN THE VAN onstage.
