Yes, Nunn did squeeze a plot out, but - and I admire his work tremendously so this is no criticism - he squeezed it out of the New Testament more than out of Eliot (not that Eliot would have minded).

Grizabella is the Mary Magdalene cat - the one that has been humbled; the other cats boast their "works" to get into heaven, but it is the outcast sinner that is chosen.

That's the plot of Cats.
