I'm not as familiar with Egerton's work, but I'm underwhelmed at the idea of ScarJo as Audrey, a vocally challenging role as well as a comic-dramatic one.
I understand she recorded an album of her own music, which I have not heard. But nothing I have seen or heard recently (most recently, her "You Could Drive A Person Crazy" in A Marriage Story) suggests that she is qualified for the role, beyond her name recognition and box office power. Adam Driver, not a trained singer, was able to do something expressive and powerful with his Sondheim song in that movie. ScarJo was not. I was less impressed with her performance in general. |
