| Both shows are musicals (albeit non-traditional ones). Apparently neither invited Tony voters so they aren't eligible for their awards. Both were limited runs with Freestyle already closed and Utopia set to close in a few weeks. I would guess both were more interested in recouping (Freestyle already has) than being eligible for awards that they weren't likely to win and that wouldn't benefit them economically even if they did win them. |
