The Shadow Box. I saw the original and remember being deeply touched by it. I was young and it was sad. Patricia Elliot’s performance a treasured memory.
I saw the revival soon after losing my father to cancer. I was saddened in a different way. That was Marlo Thomas, right?
In retrospect I remember stereotyped characters. Perhaps this lessened it as a play but it helps most audience members find someone with whom they can identify.
I wonder if I can go see the play again. Cancer has had a rather overactive impact in my life. Not me, but there has been a great deal of loss. Will my going be cathartic or too painful?
I just found out that there is a film version. Good cast. Is it supposed to be good?
Kennedy’s Children. That was a snapshot of a very specific time. Is the play relevant today? I mostly recall the ethereal work of Shirley Knight in the Broadway production.
This theater company seems to have an interesting selections of plays. The ones you list have something in common. None are truly popular today, but each in its time was significant. |
