I thought her speech was very funny as well, though, I'm not sure it was generally representative of the BAFTAs, which tend to be rather dull overall. I enjoy Graham Norton's show, but he's a terrible stand-on-stage-and-talk-to-the-audience host -- as evidenced by his blissfully short monologues on his own show. If the US Academy can get over their aversion to having a host for fear of offending anyone, they could return to being fairly entertaining as well.

*Note: I fully supported the decision to rescind Kevin Hart's hosting gig. I just didn't think it was going to be happening in perpetuity. I suppose they're too old and not "pop culturally relevant," but I'd love to have Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin back. They were sensational together and, of course, channeled their theatre chops as hosts. Or, perhaps the even more obvious choice of Steve Martin and Martin Short would do it. Because of how beloved they are (and because of their invented, heightened awards show/host/talk show host guest personas), they almost have 'permission' from the audience to push the envelope.
