| I dearly loved the Broadway production and was sad it was not embraced. The third time I saw it was the final week and was sitting next to a lovely couple from Ohio. The wife turned to me after the first act curtain with tears running down her cheeks and said "Why is this closing?" I admit the end of the piece needed some rethinking but the production and cast were terrific. I feel the only revisions should have been with the "why" of the end and not a reworking of the entire piece. This is the one show album I listen to more today than any other and I'm an old show queen who has them all. |
