I don't think that would ever be eligible for actual major film awards like the Oscars, unless it were being called a documentary and had good reason for that. But what category would it go into? Other than Doc, it would never be able to compete against ACTUAL movies.

If it were on TV, it would be nominated for a win many Emmys I'm sure. I wouldn't be surprised if a TV run is in the future. But also a LIVE TV production on a major network would probably bring in enormous live ratings, which are the most valuable of all. I think they should really do that.

I suppose if Stop Making Sense is a documentary and not a concert film only, then this could be too... but I'm waiting to see what if anything makes this any different than the many dozens of stage musicals professionally filmed and released, especially the ones released for a short theatrical run. I don't think any other filmed-stage-show has very done the 2 weeks of straight cinema run that is needed to qualify (that's the amount of time so far but I would bet the Academy will make it 3 weeks or more soon because of Netflix etc).
