| Plenty of other people would have ready and willing to sing "Hello, Dolly" at this benefit today. They would have been more serious about doing a better job with the most iconic song that Jerry Herman wrote and one of the most popular and beloved songs in history, period. Taking a cab to be at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre isn't exactly akin to a performer traveling to a remote spot in the world on their own dime. This is the second time I've seen Buckley be dreadful at a tribute to a great Broadway talent. The last time it was for Fritz Loewe and we were "treated" to Buckley sitting on the stage , slumping in her chair like a sullen teenager who couldn't wait to leave. Tyne Daly also went up on her lyric but was delightful today. Jerry Herman deserved better than Betty Buckley. People on All That Chat are plenty viscous when it other performers at benefits and where they're barely getting paid. Most of them have far less resources than Buckley. Give me a f**king break. | |
