I am actually very often mistaken for a certain movie actor. People come up to me -- on the street or in a theatre or somewhere -- and say things like "I really admire your work." I always tell them that they are mistaken, but they don't believe it. Then I ask them who they think I am. It's surprising. Flattering, but surprising, because I don't see any resemblance. Now, whenever I encounter someone who I am sure I know who it is, I always ask first. I've been wrong a few times. But usually performers are very open about things, especially when I can mention a specific moment or part they had -- the more obscure the better. The fact that someone remembered, like my remembering Miss Burns in Two Small Bodies, is usually graciously received.

My favorite encounter was in an elevator when I was alone and Jackie O. got on. She pressed the floor button she wanted and then suddenly turned around to me and said: "Don't I know you?" Um, no.
