| I have to say that Bill Eadie's review of this "re-imagined" production was extremely kind. I agree wholeheartedly with a couple of his observations: Marcia Rodd (a gifted comic actress) is stifled by a one-note character that could/should have been "re=imagined" and Teri Ralston thankfully provides much sorely needed sparkle. There's much more I could say, but I'll follow Bill Eadie's polite example. However, there was one continually disturbing element in the production: several of the supporting performers kept playing to the audience instead of relating to each other. It detracted from those moments where the fourth wall was specifically broken. I am perplexed by the fact that it's called THE COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY THEATRE (CV REP) when there is no repertory group of actors and it appears that most of the casting is done outside of the Coachella Valley. Who knows -- maybe it's a tax thing? |
