A very cleverly written play and Heckart and Kennedy were excellent. The evening had a feeling of growing menace. Levin is notable for the fact that, unlike other thriller writers, he often kills off or punishes his heroines. But Mia Farrow, Katharine Ross (Stepford Wives). Dyan Cannon (Deathtrap) and Sharon Stone (Sliver) are glamorous stars who make the journey a thrill. Regina Baff, good in the role, was bedraggled and had zero glamour. That hurt. And the ending...where the play went...was probably distasteful to some audiences. That probably kept the show from a longer run. Miramax bought the film rights about a decade ago, and I believe the show is often done in community theatre. Certainly more than more highly praised shows of that era, The Championship Season, In the Boom Boom Room or Seascape, for example.
