Nothing (material) happened. Some people like it; some people don't. (Same, incidentally, as when it was at the Public.) And maybe some of those people are predisposed to like it or not.
In order for your fine questions to be relevant, we would need to know that the chorus of naysayers did an about face.
My observation is that whenever there is a new Broadway show that maybe "doesn't have much in common with most Broadway musicals" {query: is that supposed to be a bad thing?} we hear here from a group of people who want something else. (FWIW I would say the same thing about The Last Ship, a show I thought was entitled to a far better reception than it got.) |
