| Thomas and the King was Williams' only foray into Broadway musicals (other than playing piano on the soundtrack for WEST SIDE STORY, and orchestrating the score for the film of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF --his first Oscar). But this was his only Broadway score. I've heard that people did not like it. The show opened in 1975 (right around the time of JAWS won him his second Oscar), and was recorded about 5 years later (or at least released commercially). I've never heard any of it. Does anyone remember this flop? |
