I listened to the OLC once, which was plenty. But though I thought the score was dreadful, the liner notes gave me enough of the plot to have me screaming at the inaccuracies. As an historian, I know I have to make allowances when viewing modern works set in past era. I get that. I know what's wrong in THE LION IN WINTER and A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, but the basics there are solid (well, if you accept that Christmas meeting in LIW is fictional). They're great plays.
But THOMAS AND THE KING....every paragraph of the liner notes is pure and utter b.s. Every paragraph. Beyond any sort of "dramatic license."
