Actually, Shirley Henderson and Sheila Atim both won Oliviers for their performances.

I saw it in the West End and was puzzled by McPherson's choice to set the show in Minnesota during the Depression. Why then and there? There seemed to be very little attempt at an authentic representation of that time and place; the actors seemed typically British (which, of course, they were) and theset and costume design didn't suggest any particular period beyond some vague time in the mid-20th century. I thought the show in London would have been better served by placing it in northern England in the 1960s.
