Their very erotic subway train poster is now selling sex, sex, sex in the form of one of the ultra-sculpted gym bodies in the show. They are by far the sexiest advert I’ve seen in over twenty years of riding the subway. The photo is accompanied by text proclaiming the play the event of the season (credited to no one, so it’s a self-statement), and the phrase is effective, but really, ain’t no one studying their ad copy.

I’m more intrigued by the support the Times has put behind the play, with their two articles this weekend. Though, for me, reading Lopez’s defense of the play made me like it less - and I enjoyed the play when I saw it. But he shows a remarkable lack of awareness of what he’s actually written, as well as a tone deafness around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
