Im a Nathan fan. That said, if we look at some of the dramas he has starred in (Angels, The Nance) he can certainly play it. However, Nathan is not subtle nor does he communicate internalization in any way. If he succeeds in Salesman, he will need to leave the mugging, overacting and schmaltz behind.
