"Sometimes (as with the Tonys) it is well to remember that the show operates on several levels, including marketing and putting on a show in the room. If some of the nominated songs had no intro, then I agree that seems like a weird omission. Michael mentions below that there was no intro to the opening piece but this was not about the nominations and I think it is reasonable to assume that the audience arrives with a certain body of knowledge. (Note that the Tonys do this always and I have never heard anyone here kvetch about that, the difference of course being that everyone here is looped in to the Tonys zeitgeist. I also thought that the Eminem surprise was thrilling and that the audience in the hall was overwhelmingly thrilled by it as well. "

Say what you will, but I think it's very strange that anyone performing or presenting at the Oscars not be identified at all, either through an announcement or text on the TV screen before or after their appearance. And I seem to remember there was some understandable complaining here when the opening number of the Tony Awards ceremony was not properly set up or explained/credited afterwards.
