| I was there at that gala where she did Act 3 of "Butterfly" as well! She had recorded the entire role several times, but felt it was too heavy for her to do on stage in its entirety. Maybe it was the emotional journey that she found she didn't want to take, since I think she actually did some heavier roles, but Ms. Freni certainly knew her own voice and its capabilities. Besides many of the attributes about her, with her beautiful presence and gorgeous voice, she really was quite beloved in the opera world and will be missed. |
