| Add to that: I don't recall what the ads for The Ferryman said or didn't say, or if indeed there were any to begin with. The show made it on reviews and outstanding word of mouth and it paid back. It had no stars and no pre-sold appeal (e.g. one of the most beloved American novels of all time that is assigned reading more than any other book). No matter how much was spent on marketing, people weren't going to invest their money and time into a two-part play until it checked all the boxes for them. |
