| An interesting listen...especially fun to hear the British take on American accents. The dream sequence...”cowgirls revenge/potion notion” etc is not on the recording. Was it cut in London, or just not on the recording? I know it’s a live recording but I can’t imagine that’s the reason it’s missing? | |

| The whole revenge section was cut. London production is quite good...a bit more cartoonish than the Broadway production and Dolly herself is injected vis video/audio into the show as an occasional narrator. |

| I believe the Dolly as Narrator concept was in the original tour after Broadway. I think the show was revised to include those points throughout the show. I saw the show at Ogunquit Playhouse and they used the revised version of the show, which I enjoyed quite a bit. | |

| I find it hard to imagine how that wouldn't take me out of the show I'm seeing and remind me how good the film and film cast were and therefor remind me to compare the cast I'm seeing... also, I can't imagine why this particular show or story benefits from a narrator. But hey, if it helps sell tickets, fine, it's not a great show in the first place though I do enjoy a good bit of the score. |

| The Dolly presence actually helps given that they have made the show broader, more schticky (is that a word) and marketed heavily towards female theatregoers here in the UK. The new "thing" with a few West End shows is to market to the "Hen-Do" crowd (bachelorette parties) that prefer working a theatre-going experience into their evening party plans. This is a plus and a minus depending on how you feel about occasionally drunken ladies who may have a had a few too many before they arrive at the theatre and continue drinking/partying while the show is in progress. Many a show (including Dirty Dancing) had a lengthy run not because of good ticket sales but because of great bar receipts. Lots of punters had drinks before the show, during both acts and during the interval and that adds up. And yes, many of them were hen parties. Pretty Woman is on track to market to the same demographic so buyer beware. |
