Why one succeed and the other doesn't is a question that could be asked of any number of actresses that are someone what similar. One soars, the other doesn't. I have to imagine some of it has to do with their management and the career goals they are looking to achieve.
Im a huge fan of both. It seems like Erivo was a bit for available (press etc) and contemporized her look, did the "Circuit" of talk shows etc. Also, the fact that Erivo got close to an EGOT (all for Color Purple) so fast got her extra attention. It also seems like Headley was more focused on her personal life.
I think the real truth will be told by longevity. Will Erivo be a skyrocket and burns out as quickly as she started or will she continue to climb to stardom. Headley is more of a steady state player. |
