The Philly Pops just announced their 2020-2021 season, with 2 Broadway-themed shows. (For those who don't know, the Philly Pops, like the Boston Pops, is an orchestra geared towards popular music rather than classical music.) They are doing "Modern Broadway" with Hugh Panaro, Caroline Bowman, and Josh Young in January 2021, with their definition of "modern broadway" including Pippin, Chicago, and Jesus Christ Superstar. In April 2021, they are doing a Jerry Herman tribute show, with Louise Pitre, Ben Davis, Ryan Silverman, and Dee Roscioli.
This April, they are doing Disney on Broadway, and later in the month, a Sondheim celebration with Liz Callaway, Damian Humbley, and Fra Fee. Fra Fee was in The Ferryman; I didn't know he is a singer as well. |
