| Geffen and LC negotiated a deal with the Avery Fisher Family/Foundation, giving them unenumerated considerations and $15 million, in order to rename the Hall. Geffen's contribution to LC for the Hall and naming was $100 million. Koch gave $100 million to LC in 2008 for the renaming of NY State Theatre. Not sure what his contract stipulates. Knowing that Koch family are not 'play nice' people, I'd assume one would have to refund the $100 million to change the name, And maybe that wouldn't do it either, Lets keep in mind that the LC Board had no ethical light bulb moments in 2008. They knew full well who they were taking money for. And embraced the $ and name change. Because arts boards are made of zillionaires. ANd zillionaires just don't tend to be right thinking progressives. |
