| I hope you never need excellent orthopedic surgery since the Koch name is on the entrance to Hospital for Special Surgery. I had a great result with great care. If their name bothers you so much I suggest you go to Bellvue or ask Bernie Saunders to make a huge donation. | |

| Why bring up Bernie Sa(u)nders by name? But I wasn't referring to you specifically just similar arguments. I went to the ballet there this past Christmas-time, though preferred to think of going back to the NY State Theater, which carried no politics in its name, just the name of the state in which it is located. | |

| Bernies's name was brought up because at the moment he happens to be the front runner of the Democratic Party. I could have mentioned Warren but she will not be elected. I could have brought up Bloomberg who certainly could have donated more than the Koch's but he didn't. I am assuming you would have no problem going to the Bloomberg theater. I certainly would not have a problem. But then again sometimes Bloomberg is a Dem and sometimes he's a Republican depending on what works for him. So just go and enjoy the art and stop kvetching about who's name is on the travertine. Be happy there are rich people who are generous because our government does not subsidize the Arts. I would rather have the Koch theater or hospital or museum than empty buildings. | |

| I have NO DESIRE to bring politics to this board. I basically read it to get an idea of what worth seeing or avoiding. The question that was posed was about removing a major doner's name to make the structure less offensive. Do the Koch's determine the repertoire? Does a portion of her ticket price go to the Republican Party? I don't run to Geffen Hall because of a gay democrat's magnanimous donation. I'm a gay man and I'm just happy he did it. I find it a bit comical that the two halls are across from each other and that David's name for perpetuity is in lights. I'm in a service business and my clientele is 98% Trump haters, and while I don't support him, I find it reprehensible that if I differed with their opinion, I would lose their patronage. So possibly all of the Never Trumpers could take a portion of their massive stock market gains over the last three years, create a fund, donate it to the Kock Theater and they can rename it. And while they're at it, PLEASE change the seats, they are very uncomfortable |

| Not at all. I just got carried away. How much AWFUL MONEY BY BAD PEOPLE has gone through the coffers of the Met, Carnegie, MOMA? We just don't know it yet we enjoy those places. The opera took out a loan on the Chagall murals. Shall we name the theater after Chagall? The Koch Theater was ready to sell the Jasper Johns in the lobby. Call it the JJ Auditorium. Leona Helmsly was thought an awful woman by many; so don't go to New York Hospital. It can go on and on and on. Our government does not subsidize the arts so we should be grateful to anyone will to give generously so that these institutions that make New York what it is, continue to exist. | |
