I just finished Avian's memoir and it's delicious. Warm, funny and wryly observant from a real insider. It's long been known in the industry that Avian was an ever-present, integral part of Michael Bennett's creations (particularly in A CHORUS LINE, BALLROOM and DREAMGIRLS) and Dancing Man illustrates this with refreshing modesty and gratitude to Bennett and the many collaborators he and Avian worked with. The book is full of eye-opening, honest insights in terms of what made some of their productions soar and others flounder. And the book never lags as it warmly and humorously takes you on a great ride through the 60 years that Avian worked on so many seminal productions. A delight.
