Snoozefest. One woman show based on a novel about an uninteresting person with uninteresting problems. A theatre which calls itself a not for profit, charges $179 per ticket. Linney is good, if one note. Yeah, I'd give it a pass.

Was a snooze fest. For me, she was at her best portraying her mother. As for the play, said nothing to me.

"Not For Profit" doesn't have any meaning at all with regard to ticket prices. It doesn't even mean that the theatre or the individual productions don't generate a profit. It basically means that, whatever profits are earned, that money goes back into the company, not into the pockets of any person or people.

You should take a look at the salaries of the Artistic Directors and General Managers and top staff producers of non-profits like MTC, Roundabout, LCT, Public even... before believing that the profits do not go into the pockets of any person or people.

In theaters where the artists are making a scale salary based on a lower tier "non-profit" scale, people in charge make huge salaries for jobs other qualified people who do happily for half or even 1/4 of what these people get paid to "run" the theater. It's a joke.

Yes and no. The whole point for alllowing theatres to be not for profit (charitable) organizations under IRS Code 501(c)(3), was to provide a service that no one else was provbiding, and at an affordable price. One donated to a theatre so one could see Chekhov or Ibsen in Cleveland at an affordable price.

Now that, at least in NY, the not for profit theatres with Broadway outlets - 2d STage, MTC, and Roundabout - are doing mostly the same work that commercial producers would, and could do - with preferential union contracts, and an attraction for stars - you get a limited run in a show - so sucess failure is not on your back - but you are still on Broadway and awards eligible.

You are dead wrong about the point. This has been explained to you before but you don't seem interested in fact for fiction, or reading the Internal Revenue Code and the regulations thereunder, or even one of the hundreds of books or pamphlets that lays it all out in words and even pictures.
