| I saw Part One the night the closing was announced at the discounted rate of $59. I will do my best to see Part Two. | |

| They sold it as ‘bingeable’ so I can see it being adapted. I think on Netflix/Hulu/HBO where an audience can find it and absorb it at their own pace, it could live quite comfortably. Especially if they stunt cast. | |

| I haven't seen, nor have I read the play, but what do folks think the likelihood of it having a decent post-Broadway life? I'm sure the subject matter would be a draw for some of the professional/semi-professional theatres in my area (Boston), but I'm not sure that it would be something they could afford to produce not only because it's a 'two-parter', but because of the cast size. Thoughts??? |

| Or dozens of productions in major cities in the next few years by regional theaters. But probably not that many in the 5-10 year time frame. | |

| "My guess is several. Or dozens of productions in major cities in the next few years by regional theaters. " Should be interesting to see if you're right about this. On the one hand, regional houses could obviously produce this show far less expensively then Broadway, without having to spend as much for salaries for the fairly large cast. On the other hand, the two-part structure of the play may well limit the number of productions, not to mention the fact that the casting only calls for one woman. |

| If the show weren't in two parts I bet it could have toured & done particularly well around Pride month. I suppose holiday shows like Grinch, Elf & Christmas Story make the most of their 1-2 month seasons. Inheritance could have done the same doing a quick, intensified tour in June. But I think the 2-part format kills that idea. I really didn't care for the show but still would have rooted for its success. Too bad about the closing. |

| I adore this play and production. I know there are many reasons why it wasn't successful but it's upsetting when some shows that are crap run for years. | |

| Are you including musicals. Because plays rarely play even 6 months. Mockingbird (which I found to be terrific) and Harry Potter (it does what fans want) are rare plays that last over a year. | |

| Not so surprising given how much money it must have been losing each week, but still unfortunate. It may not have mattered in the end, but I wonder if the show would have done better if it hadn't been so overhyped before the first performance, which made people give it less slack when it wasn't as perfect as the buzz made it sound. It will be interesting to see how it does during awards season. There are many aspects worthy of recognition (particularly Stephen Daldry's direction and Lois Smith's performance, IMO). But the early close of an overhyped show leaves a negative feeling in a way that isn't true for a show that just never seemed to get the recognition it deserved (Scottsboro Boys and the Journey's End revival being examples of shows that had bad box office but did well with nominations, if not necessarily actual awards). |

| Or perhaps it did get the recognition it deserved. People did not respond to it. That is the recognition. That is the fact. That is the honesty. It did not resonate. So then you have to ask why? |

| It did for me.....I've seen it multiple times - those performances! and the time just breezes by (and I'm someone who even at 90 min shows often look at my watch - with this..i never have...once!) I hope Soller, Burnap, Levine and Hilton are remembered at Tony time.... (personally I couldn't keep my eyes off Kyle Soller - he was always so in the moment...) my 2 cents |
