| Acknowledging this is the film version, we don't often celebrate the contribution of designers here so this may be of interest to some... "Scottish artist George Gibson created the movie scenery which helped define the look of legendary films including The Wizard of Oz during Hollywood's golden age. Now his family hope he will finally get the wider recognition he did not receive at the time. " |

Before decamping to Hollywood when talkies came in (working on over 70 films, and getting 9 other Oscar nominations), Stothart was MD or wrote music for 22 Broadway musicals and revues,. | Which are the Stothart songs, and which version were they written for. I know he's credited on a few in the Keel-Blyth movie. Did he write any in the McDonald-Eddy version? Did he write any for the original stage production? (I've got the Julie Andrews/Giorgio Tozzi recording, which as far as I know includes only Friml songs.) Did he write any for which Friml took credit? |
