How "casual" a fan are you? Have you read the books? Seen the films? If not, I would strongly recommend at least watching the movies (you've got plenty of time). If you have seen them, then watch them again. And pay special attention to "Goblet of Fire" and the two "Deathly Hallows" films. While I have heard many people unfamiliar with the story say that they loved it, I think you would get more out of it with familiarity. There are several revelations in the play that get a collective "gasp" from the audience ("Blah, blah, blah, blah, NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM" is the one that comes immediately to mind) and I think it's more fun to be a part of that. Also, they open the doors an hour early for Part 2 so take the time to explore the lobby of the theater, upstairs and down; it really is spectacular. The play itself is very well done. Funny, dramatic, sad, and the stagecraft is amazing.
