You are welcome! I think the FB post (where I got the info from) was a mistake/typo about the length for BroadwayHD (1 wk vs 2 wks). When I purchased the ticket and got a confirmation email, it said BroadwayHD for one week. Still a good deal! I added my donation on top of $35 at checkout. I wanted to help out the theatre community directly.
My friend and I were talking about how Berkeley Rep could do it (union, royalty fee, filming cost etc) and my guess is first and foremost, the artists want to perform and be seen by many people especially for these limited run shows. Also maybe Berkeley Rep made a deal with BroadwayHD to include their shows in their programming later, and I think that's a smart move. I don't think Broadway shows can do this but how about Off Broadway shows? If that's still too commercial, I really wish other regional theatres around the country to think about this approach.
