First, I'm not a doctor and I don't play one anywhere. Just repeating what I've read (and there's plenty I haven't read).
There are currently many types of flu, and the vaccine only protects against some. If the coronavirus does not mutate into equally/more aggressive forms before the vaccine is available, the vaccine could help much more than the flu vaccine. If/when it mutates, it will have to be updated continuously and some people will still get it and die, as with the flu. But the numbers aren't known, but I don't think they are the same.
On this subject, I know hospitals currently have many flu victims, as well as coronavirus, but I wonder how much the isolation practices will help decrease the number of flu infections, as well.
