We often see solidarity get-togethers/rallies/gatherings (lots of other synonyms) when awful things occur and politicians usually attend as well as a fight against hate, whenever hate occurs, as happened in Brooklyn last week. We can keep "social distance" during the theater community's outpouring of support if they choose to hold a sing-along in support of the Asian-American who was attacked. So not sure what you mean by the first sentence. Regarding the second sentence, the phrase in quotes can be open to interpretation but I think it was cleared up well in the speech last night.
