"It's still amazing how much she improved her performance for the Broadway transfer. She took those two NY Times pans and worked hard to rebuild and reinvent her Rose."
My experience was very different. At City Center, I did get the impression that her characterization was unfinished (and I really didn't like that hairdo). On Broadway, I felt her performance was overdone, over-calculated, sometimes out of control, and full of odd acting choices -- and/or maybe odd directorial choices, which is not surprising given who directed the show. So, overall, I actually preferred her performance at City Center.
