Yes, that horse has left the stable. The revenue leader for many musicians, however, is live concerts (even if they' like to retire). Yes, they could have managed their money better, if they once were a big recording star, but "much smaller" is really many, many muches smaller. Or much smallers.
You can have your argument for the streaming model, that's fine. I'm not calling for it to be outlawed, but I can still think it's a shame, for those who do the creating.
Another aspect of musical theatre albums is that some people still buy the CDs because they are collectors. Yes, a dying population, and it still doesn't result in big numbers. But they're there. |
