Glad you liked it ... but it just never meshed with me ... I saw the LivEnt tour in Chicago with Osmond a number of times and also caught the RUG tour with Sam Harris and after enjoying the live show so much, it just didn't translate well for me.
But yes, Osmond at the time was still *very* well known and the LivEnt tour filled all the big houses where it played. It could have probably just stayed in Chicago and had a good 4-5 year run. Part of the attraction for him in the film was the Canadian cast recording selling "very well" throughout the U.S., not just the markets where the show played. Osmond's...."feud" with Rosie O'Donnell in 1996 helped boost sales of the recording and bring in promotion for the show. Hell, on the RUG tour with Sam Harris, they were even selling the Canadian cast recording at the souvenir stands. Quite a few people were buying it when I was standing in line for my souvenir program. |
