Michael_Portantiere:
I wonder if any cast albums have been released digitally and on LP but not on CD? Anybody?
I'm willing to bet there haven't been any digital + LP releases that are not also on CD, unless you are talking about deep catalog items that were issued on LP in the 60s, 70s, 80s and on digital in recent years. Tom Foolery was on LP in 1980 and iTunes in 2006. I'm sure there are other examples.
Most CDs trail digital releases these days because of bottlenecks in CD manufacturing. But so far there have been very few new cast recordings released without a CD version appearing eventually. One that comes to mind is the off-Broadway recording of Triassic Parq in 2012. And Prospect Theater's 2017 production of The Mad Ones (f.k.a. The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown) was released digitally back in December apparently without any plans for a CD. |
