A couple of other factors ... Osmond and his wife were living in the north Chicago burbs at the time, WIlmette or Winnetka, something of that nature and I remember in an interview something about his kids/schools/high school, etc. etc. Sticking with the LivEnt tour provided better accommodation to be closer to home at times, perhaps? Tour played Chicago from fall 1993 to January 1995, returned again in fall 1995 and again fall/Christmas 1996.

Also, LivEnt might have been offering something of a better deal than RUG could/would have. I recall hearing at the time Osmond was pulling in $40,000 a week for the show, which at the time, was on par with Glenn Close's reported salary in Sunset Boulevard and Jerry Lewis in Damn Yankees plus pulling in a percentage of the box office receipts and a nice percentage of the cast recording sales. I recall tickets in Chicago topping out at the $60/$65 range at the time, but at 3,600 seats for the Chicago Theatre, I can imagine that would have added up quite nicely.
