People have been going together to the theater since ancient times in Greece and Rome. The communal experience and being together with live performance has come back again and again through various epidemics, wars and political bans. At least we have a stockpile of entertainment to watch, as well as devices like smart tvs, phones and computers to connect us as a kind of substitute for the time being. As for how long, who knows? Gov. Cuomo announced today that for 2 days there wasn't an increase in infections or casualties in NY, so that might be (slightly) encouraging news, though he won't want people out and about for quite a while to keep it from rising again. There are movies and shows galore on youtube, netflix, met opera hd, amazon prime, and your own collections of CDs, DVDs, books, etc. Plus, there are some live play readings and other events at www.starsinthehouse.com and other places to check out as well for now. For now -- just concentrate on what you can do every day and don't focus too much on what you can't control. Maybe we'll get some better news at some point.
