I know this is always the most wishful of thinkings, but perhaps the aftermath on BRoadway will include a serious sit down between the Broadway League, and all the Unions - and theatreowners - at the same time (as they did with the shut down agreement), and try to find ways to modify all of the Broadway contract terms, to make producing and running shows on Broadway less punitive - perhaps with sliding scales, which require higher minimums from shows that are very successful, but much lower rates during rehearsals and previews, and for marginal shows.

There are some simple and common sense - changes that could help our business economically.

Theatre Owners: Their % of Rent shouldn't kick in til week 10 of performances. Give as how CHANCE,
Stop clause should not be allowed to be triggered until 6th week post opening. Stop Clause should be turned off if a show has 4 weeks in a row over stop clause amount after clause is activated.
Musicians should be employees of the Producer, not the theatre.

AFM: One double allowed at minimum. 8 hours rehearsal in addition to show calls allowed each week. No onstage.costume premium.

IATSE: Eight hours in addition to show calls allowed weekly. No continuity time unless more than 1 hour prior to curtain
Crew may set up next day after performance, as part of their 8 additional hours. No craft lines other than department heads.
Only crew needed called each day during load in and tech.
Anyone in the building may bring a portable keyboard into house for rehearsal and plug it in. AFM, IA, AEA, you name it.

Front of house. Any department may change marquee front of house light bulbs, and clean front of house assets.

Perhaps all salaries that are 125% of minimum or below, would rise as the show becomes more financially successful - for example - lets say you opened in HAMILTON at $2400 a week - its level of success might raise your salary 50%, to $3,600 pw. Automatically.

Just some common sense things. Oh yeah - they will never happen - but ...
