"When I saw ADDAMS FAMILY on Broadway, it was the worst show I'd seen in NY to that point. Yes, the massive squid was just awful. When I saw it on tour, they had revised the story to focus on Morticia and Gomez and added a few songs -- it was so much better that way. And Douglas Sills was incredibly charming as Gomez, holding up the whole show IMHO."
Thanks for your report, which conforms with what I've heard from others. I, too, thought the Broadway ADDAMS FAMILY was a tremendous misfire, primarily because I thought both the score and the book were very poorly written. I'm surprised but happy to hear (and read in the NY Times article) that the show was so greatly improved for the tour, and I would have LOVED to see Doug Sills as Gomez :-) |
