THE BRICK THEATER IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE BRICK ARCHIVAL STREAMING SERIES LAUNCHING WITH THE YOUTUBE PREMIERE OF SLEEPING CAR PORTERS

Brooklyn, NY (04/08/20) — The Brick Theater proudly invites you to The Brick YouTube Channel for the video premiere of Title:Point's New York Times Critic's Pick production of Sleeping Car Porters, written by Ryan William Downey, for the launch of The Brick Archival Streaming Series. If you missed its all-too-brief run last December this is your chance to experience the tragic magic of this dark psychedelic comedy. The stream is FREE and will go live at 8pm on Thursday April 16th. The Brick is encouraging donations for the sustainability of their space during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has prevented them from hosting their usual array of thought-provoking performances. Some of the creative team behind Sleeping Car Porters will join for a live chat during the stream.

"This cryptic play at the Brick Theater examining a certain kind of mythological American noir is wonderfully flabbergasting, and often genuinely creepy."
- Elisabeth Vincentelli, The New York Times

Thursday Spotlight: Ryan William Downey on creating theater that’s “slapstick comedy, abject horror, and pure existential dread” - Greenpointers.com

‘It’s just that sometimes the moon makes me lonely is all.
Maybe sometimes I guess it’d be better with no moon at all.
Just the dark.’

Sleeping Car Porters is a pitch black comedy that explores western masculine myth through a phantasmagoria of power, violence, and mystery. Two characters, Billy the Kid and Zodiac, must navigate an unforgiving landscape revealing themselves to one another while coming to terms with their own destructive nature. Along the way they encounter magical cowboys, mysterious strangers, and the ghosts who haunt the perimeter.
